     Employment and Civil Rights

Attorneys in Shaw Norton Degan, L.L.P.'s Employment and Civil Rights practice group work with private and public sector employers in matters involving state and federal law. We assist employers in all facets of the employee/employer relationship, including drafting and implementing policies, training on those policies, drafting employment contracts and covenants, counseling on operational decisions, and defending against claims before administrative bodies, state and federal courts and in arbitration.

Our attorneys handle issues and claims in areas that include discrimination, harassment, whistleblowing, disability and religious accommodations, leave rights, privacy rights, wages and salary, and other matters arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disability Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, and the United States Constitution, along with the various state counterparts. Our attorneys also have extensive experience in counseling and representing clients in litigation and arbitration of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, including the prosecution and defense of temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.

The Employment and Civil Rights practice group provides employers with the tools necessary to help prevent employment related problems from rising to the level of claims, and to resolve quickly and reasonably employment related claims when brought.
